Everybody had Lyfe's debut album.
"Must be Nice" peaked at #40 on the billboard charts, and has no certifications. Some hit single. Thinkin Bout You went Gold, breh.

Having one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the year? If you're nominated for Album of the Year, you perform, that's how it's always worked.

Thinking About You charted as high as 32, which was higher than Miranda Lambert's Over You which charted at 35. She performed that song tonight. Dierks Bentley performed a song that peaked at 44. Jack White performed 2 songs that never entered the Hot 100.

Rell and Allen Anthony was in the studio with Jay and Kanye but who was checking for their album? Where was their grammy invite?

My point is that he's nominated for album of the year without a hit single. When has a black artist ever accomplished that feat in the history of the grammy awards without a hit single? Black artists never had that luxury in the history of music. Lauryn Hill had to sell millions to get nominated. Name another BLACK artist that got this kind of acclaim without a hit record. Anthony Hamilton couldn't sweep the floor of the Grammies and all he does is make good albums.

Everyone's entitled to their own beliefs. but I always find it hilarious how much homosexuality causes seemingly logical men to come up with some of the most wild, irrational shyt. it makes nyggas who've never set foot in the church all of a sudden start quoting scripture. it makes nyggas who've never read a history book in their life all of a sudden become arm chair revolutionaries convinced that the gay agenda is out to destroy the black man. it makes nyggas who lie, cheat, steal and fornicate start preaching against the immorality of our culture like a conservative politician.

shyt is hilarious. nyggas will come up with any reasoning besides the most honest one, the shyt just grosses you out and makes you feel uncomfortable.

Ya'll cats are so insecure about a musicians sexuality. Like that has any relevance to the actual music at hand.

The song was number 5 on the R&B charts. Has Frank ever had a song that big? Anybody can have a gold single if they're allowed to perform it at the MTV awards. Lyfe did his numbers without a BET awards performance. Just off the strength of the hood fucking with it. Frank Ocean gets no urban spins because black ppl don't **** with him even tho the white man is tryna force him on us.

About how I feel. The title of this thread is a ridiculously bigoted and paranoid statement. I'm glad an artist who I like and feel is really talented, is getting the recognition he deserves, I don't even care about the Grammys or sales, just to see someone get their due is cool.

Are you asking for black artists that get critical acclaim without a hit record?

Tonight Esperanza Spalding won her second Grammy and here albums haven't sold ****. Robert Glasper won a Grammy and I'm sure Black Radio hasn't sold ****. Both black artists with critically acclaimed albums, Spalding this would be her 3 critically acclaimed album, with no hit singles and grammy wins.

India Arie was nominated for Album of the Year in 02 and her highest peaking song was Video at 47.

And Anthony Hamilton has won a Grammy, was nominated 3 times in 2012 and twice this year.

I never mentioned any church scripture in this thread. I said the plot was to emasculate the black man and nobody is denying that is what the agenda is are they? Even the biggest Frank Ocean supporter has to ask themselves how the **** did he get this much acclaim from the establishment. His album has to be the second coming of "Off The Wall" for him to be able to have solo performances at the MTV awards and the Grammy's without a hit single. Usually by the time a black artist gets to perform at those shows your grandmother and baby cousins knows their hit single word for word.

Gay, straight, or anything in between, Frank Ocean is one of the best songwriters in the game right now, and Channel Orange was one of the best albums of 2012.

So, yeah, 1 star, neg rep.

When were the MTV awards bruh? Lecrae won a grammy but he didn't get a primetime performance did he? I never said getting a grammy was such a huge feat. Getting a solo performance at the MTV awards and the grammy's is very rare without a hit single on your resume. It's so rare only 1 black artist has ever done it and it's the ****.

Cats think you have to be vocal about your hate/dislike for gays or your manhood comes into question. Without realizing that that insecurity alone puts your manhood at question. The white man is tryna force gays on people? Well if that worries you then it means atleast part of you is worried you might succumb to that. I'm a straight man...no amount of forcing homosexual music/television, etc is ever going to change that.
