My bad for calling you a Nas stan, I usually don't apologize but calling someone a Nas stan is a vicious insult. So Carlos Santana and Lauryn Hill's musical abilities are boring cause Cole is spitting over it? Usually the criticism would be that Cole is boring.

I still don't understand what you mean about him being gangsta or that he doesn't rap about himself. Specially the track you referenced to the hardest that ODB joint. Where he talks about having a bad relationship with his mom, having a junkie dad, the struggles of coming up, putting his heart in senseless things and then he generalizes it to describing an average black dude.

And when he mentions guns, it's a metaphor something common in lyricism.
It's a metaphor for knocking down the door, to success and drawing parallels to a street dude knocking down his door to success which is defined by a cool whip and a bad *****.

This EP is downloading mad slow.

I hope this doesn't rule out a mixtpae from Jermaine, tho. He always comes correct on the mixtapes and Friday Night Lights really got the buzz going for the album last time.

It's about keeping your criticism consistent, you can't worry about hit singles if your favorite artist ain't charted a big singles in over a decade.

You can't claim that a dukes beats are boring (even the classic ones that are hailed as classic instrumentals in the hiphop books) when your favorite artist main and probably only criticism is having boring beats and sometimes being a boring MC. And you can't worry about talking about other people as your community, when your favorite artist makes whole albums about his community.

You've got to agree with your own criticism, not my opinions by any means.
And in this case I mistook the poster for someone else, or I gambled since 80% of Coles haters are Nas stans and I gambled on the odds that out of 10 times I'll get it right 8.
Son do u go around callin ****** Nas Stans and real life?..like..where do u even get this ****?..80% of Coles haters are Nas Stans?..when in real life MOST people I run into who love Cole ALSO love Nas?...it IS possible to like more than one artist..****..u would even have a better argument if this was about Drake...u just automatically assume if someone doesn't like an artist u like they are automatically a "Nas Stan"..life dont work like that g. Lol..not real life anyway..ur right about the criticism but if he was a Nas fan maybe he thinks Nas' beats arent boring or that Nas talks about the community in a more interesting way...either way u went at dude based on the assumption he was a Nas fan rather than purely off the words he spoke...

First and foremost, I never run into Nas stans anywhere I don't have any proof of them being real people.

Second, it's well known that Nas stans are overrepresented on the coli.

Third, Nas stans and fans are not the same cats in my vocabulary.
It's an internet thing.

The ones that bought buffalo wings and beer to see him win a popularity contest. The ones that still hate Jiggaman for a decade old beef, and the list goes on these are Nas stans, dumb smart ******.

And I've probably told you this 100 times over like 5 years, I should save this post for next time you question my usage of the term.

3. Rise Above - I can bear the beat. Lyrics are better on this one. I guess he was trying to send a message. 3.5/5
4. Tears for ODB - Beat is weak. Flow is off and all over the place. Hes emulating too much of this "gangsta struggle" life because he thinks it sounds good. Who is the real Cole? Dude sounds like he loves being the underdog. You went to college and got a degree. Talk about that? I mean even Drake and your peers talk about THEIR LIVES. He still swears he ain't made it yet. 2.5/5.
5. Stay - Same old bullshit because he thinks hes going to jail. Oh ok. I guess he wants to tell stories that he thinks "back packers" want to hear because thats "real rap." Dude didn't even do the beat justice. Stop stealing from KRIT. 3/5.

Why does he not get better production? I can't listen to this **** more than once.

Dude just doesn't have IT.

He can "rap"...but its just kinda average.

Look at the end of the day, Cole is like one of those rappers who sounds good on blogs because they just make "just ok" music on 2DopeBoyz or something. They'll have a small cult following, but hes nothing special.

OH...and anyone that says cole don't talk about women is a liar. Thats basically 80% of his style. He's not some pro-revolutionary and hes NOT THAT GOOD at doing what he does.

Other people can do what he does and be him...better than he can be. Its just kinda true.

STOP PRODUCING YOUR **** COLE.

THE WORD N---- IS YOUR CRUTCH J COLE

His debut sold over 600,000 records in a time where 97% of rappers can't even move more than 400,000. I think he's doing just fine. And I bet that most of these ****** would kill to have Cole's following.

Aight..bet..I dont use the term on or offline..which is why u always see it in quotations...but the SAME **** u sayin about "Nas Stans"...can be said about "Jay Stans" who wont let go of the beef after 10 years...even to the point tryna rewrite history...theres a whole **** Nas Movement going from sohh to here and different sites..."Nas Lost" is like a running joke on the internet...its fuckery on both sides of the fence...problem with u is u seem to have a legit personal problem to the point where u cant even have a legit hip hop discussion without bringing "Nas Stans" up...u went at dude on those merits and ur whole argument fell on its face cause of it...and u even had some good points ..my thing is...why even have a hip hop discussion based on the possibility of thise merits rather than just stating ur opinion based on what the person said or what the discussion is about at hand...no matter who the person might be a fan of ...u gonna continuously lose ur debates that way...u bring Nas into every single thread damn near...this thread is about J Cole...funny thing is I thing u coulda got at the Napoleon dude cause I think he was just shittin all over Cole and being overcritical for no reason imo...and he was buggin for shittin on that Lauryn Hill beat...u coulda just hit him wit the facts and ur opinion and kept it pushin...

Could give a **** about another Cole fan vs Nas fans debate back and forth blah blah...so onto the music...

At work so i gotta keep it somewhat brief...but overall im diggin this EP. Has a smooth *** vibe to it and Cole is spittin over the beats that work best for him. You can tell he had some things he had to get off of his chest (as usual) but it translates well on this little project. If you been thinking Cole is boring...this isnt gonna change that. But for the ones who been waiting on him to drop some new **** (including yours truly)...I'll definitely take this appetizer....

Tears of ODB was the standout track to me and that Stay beat fit perfectly to close things out.

I'll take Cole's storytelling rhymes over pop a molly and im sweatin any day...

NormanConnors and A.R.$ dap this.

Look.

Dude is just uninteresting. Hes boring. It doesn't draw me in.

I'm looking to be entertained. I don't need a techno beat either. I need something thats engaging.

J Cole is not it.

His metaphors don't go over my head.

His themes aren't hard to understand.

His musicality isn't beyond my comprehension.

J Cole is average but here you come trying to explain his lyrics like I don't get it.

Whats so hard about understanding someone who just DOES NOT HAVE THE IT FACTOR?

Who cares about his record sales?

I'm not a label executive. I'm a consumer of music.
