@SonofaGod since i see you from the NY area, can u recommend me any NY boxing gyms? someone on this forum recommended me church street boxing gym, got any others u could vouch for?
I'm at a plateau (partly because I drink now and then and take big breaks from the gym) so I'll try whatever. On the days that you lift are you lifting at one time of day and the calisthenics another time, the same time, or different days?
at that time i supersetted my calisthenics with my lifting (ex i would do bench then immediately after drop to the floor to bust out a set of pushups)
initially itll be quite difficult to do and will get the HR pumping. the first couple times doing it you probably wouldnt be able to keep it up the whole workout without being rediculously spent. but keep at it, in about 2 weeks of doing it my body adjusted easily.
For plateaus what i do though is just add weight. even if its a half rep, just do it,(focusing immensely on negatives/ controlling the weight) then immediately drop down and max out on calisthenics as a finisher. youll find that as the days/weeks pass handling the weight will get easier and easier.

Ive only been to one, Gleasons Gym in DUMBO, Brooklyn. Great gym. gritty. dirty. big, and its pretty diverse. from your 55 year old white banker trying to get fit, to hood ****** from the stuy in there. alot of pros drop in all the time. and there are some really good trainers there too.
church st, my trainer also works there. my impression is that its alot of yuppies/ tribeca crowd who look to stay fit go there. havent actually been tho.
Ive heard alot of noise from Brotherhood boxing in bushwick. couple good amateurs come out from there. in the coming months i might join that gym.

Is it possible to add weight with calisthenics? Or is it just for maintaining weight while getting stronger? I'm 140-145 but wanna be bigger than this.
Calisthenics are great for a leaned out, and athletic look. I've been incorporating tons of calisthenics and they've done a lot for shaping my muscles. I'd still recommend doing things like bench press because your chest can get kind of small if you only do calisthenics... but they do wonders if you want a slim, lean look.
nothing makes gives me a chest pump like pushups. you can do different advanced variations and look even swoler

I do burpees, do a pushup(hands close to body) and on your way up, get on your feet and jump up as high as you can. Come down into a pushup and continue for as many reps as you can manage. That's one set, wait ~50-60 seconds and do your next set. I also do stuff like single leg hops, and jump rope. These have helped me become more explosive. You also become more lean when you reduce the rest between sets.
