I spend about 20min every training session (so anywhere from 1-2hrs a week) just doing shoulder prehab stuff. About 10 before I start and 10 after.

In general, you should be doing more pulling movements than pushing. At least a 2:1 ratio imo. and when you're healthy, at least a 1:1 ratio of overhead to horizontal pushing.

An easy way to get a lot of horizontal pulling in is doing band pullaparts or doing facepulls on a cable machine or using bands. Good luck.
at what point should you start doing these? I think i just had the same injury last week as the OP. should you ice for a couple weeks first?

also any use in seeing a doctor/PT/chiro?

It cleared up at first but got re-aggravated while I was playing bball about a week ago. I havent lifted upper body (except biceps/forearms) since November. Its now mid Feb and it hasnt healed completely. I'm going to get another steroid injection (for inflammation) at the end of this week.

Has anybody ever hurt their shoulder or rotator cuff? How did you get through it? This **** sucks. I guess I'll have to do abs and legs until it heals completely, however long that is I even think biceps is hindering the healing process, not sure though.
Well, I had a torn labrum and got surgery for that.
Your doctor was not 100% sure it was a rotator cuff, and you were doing bench press, not pitching a baseball or moving your arm in that kind of motion. You'll need an MRI to properly diagnose what got torn.
You should take it easy on upper body until it goes away.

I didnt hurt it doing bench press, I do need an MRI for peace of mind though.

Stay away from dips and barbell bench press.

I really don't know. I'd rest it until the pain is nearly or all gone and ice it a few times a day.

Once the pain has subsided, I'd start doing some of those movements with the lightest weights possible to get the blood flowing in the area.

I'm lucky and never really had any serious shoulder injuries even with all the benching I've done because I always did lots/more pulling and overhead presses and then eventually started doing a few of those movements for prehab.

Rotator Cuffs are crucial to keep healthy...they can effect so many different kinds of lifts and muscle areas such as chest, shoulders, back and even arms depending on the workout...I work mine out even without problems there yet because better safe then sorry...just a word of advice to those who see this, keep your RC's healthy and strong

I had my labrum repaired. Luckily my RC was fully intact. Road to recovery from an RC tear is a *****.

I injured mine in December! I actually hurt it turning over in bed!!!

Took about 5 weeks to fully heal, and that's 5 weeks of no lifting at all and ice/heat

I'm going to do my PT stretches everyday and only lift abs/legs and see how long it takes to fully heal for good.
