nope this is all over mainstream news. first thing that popped up on msn news when i logged on. they have the actual pdf and everything

they're using drones to kill hundreds of kids in countries we're not at war with. of course they will use them on us. they already have assassination lists of american citizens that live abroad because they are labeled as terrorists. and guess what they've already openly assassinated americans without trials. dont believe me...

The U.S. Government on Friday asked a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit over the killing of three American citizens in drone strikes in Yemen

U.S.: dismiss lawsuit over Americans killed by drones - POLITICO.com

i hope this **** wakes some of yall up.

this is a slippery slope if ive ever seen it. guess what they define terrorism as

Under the Patriot Act, the definition of "domestic terrorism" is limited to conduct that (1) violates federal or state criminal law and (2) is dangerous to human life.

wow, openly assassinating american citizens without trial is completely unacceptable. they dont even try to hide it.

do you understand how easy it is to be labeled a terrorist under the definition they use? they've already set the precedent, maybe they assassinated people running with muslim extremists before, but youre a fool to think they wont turn the guns on others. pretty soon christian extremists, maybe atheist extremists. how about people that wont let their guns go (you'd like that)

here's the question.
At any point in time did you have any doubt, for even a second, that if the government wanted you to disappear anytime prior to 2000 that they couldn't make it happen?

the difference is now they are a little more...codified... about it.

they don't have any new power, they are just choosing to write shyt about it now. Trust that 10 years ago you and your family could have been magically whisked away with not so much as a fukin bat of an eye if they REALLY WANTED.

“A lawful killing in self-defense is not an assassination,” the white paper reads. “In the Department’s view, a lethal operation conducted against a U.S. citizen whose conduct poses an imminent threat of violent attack against the United States would be a legitimate act of national self-defense that would not violate the assassination ban. Similarly, the use of lethal force, consistent with the laws of war, against an individual who is a legitimate military target would be lawful and would not violate the assassination ban.”

Last time I checked, Anwar Al-Awlaki was an American citizen extrajudicially targeted and killed by the US Government.

I'm seriously confused by this thread.

This memo is exactly why gun rights activist are throwing fits about having their ability to keep whatever weapon they want.

But throughout the media we **** on them and call them narrow minded and such.

Also maybe its my lack of knowledge on the situation.

But the real danger this poses to me, is if you have someone who defines terrorism as simply going against the American way put into power. One who sees a "populist" as a "terrorist threat."

The difference between a terrorism and freedom fighting has always been in the eye of the beholder man, that has almost never changed. That's how human violence works- we attach justifications and classifications to it based on our own personal perspectives of the conflict- and then vilify, praise or ignore it.

As for the gun thing.... I see them as unrelated. Keeping your gun isn't gonna stop you from the government having you covertly snuffed IMO. The one rationale the gun people do have is a depiction of a Locke-esque 'necessary revolution' being carried out against an unjust government having a higher chance of being more successful with legal armament. And its stories like this that have people derisive about the effectiveness of said personal armaments in a revolution. If the government comes after your revolutionary cell house at night with a drone no AR-15 is going to save your life.
