I like both Dubstep and Brostep honestly and can dig some Mount Kimbie or Scuba as well as some Skism or some Datsik. But where do you draw the line ?
Is this when the half time feel is too exagerated and the song is basically a 70bpm track with too much emphasis on the kicks and snares ?
James Blake's Limit to your love : is this dubstep for yall and why (or why not) ?

limit to your love is a perfect example of dubstep

dubstep conceptually doesn't have many constraints...its just sub bass driven music set at a tempo of 138-140bpm thats made for big soundsystems...the skys the limit with that and there are many examples of people pushing those boundaries and messing with bpms etc...tbh in the beginning there were no 'rules' as to how to make dubstep, and there still really isn't to some extent

but look don't get me wrong...there is good tearout around, kromestar and coki are two of my favourite producers

its more a case of good music vs bad music...that's all. Brostep 98% of the time is poorly made and lacks any structure/melodies/rhythm etc and the music being posted that others including myself protested at being posted was just bad music. Simple as. It's just poorly made.

And another thing in case people get it twisted, these two 'tearout' tracks below are as about as good as any other tracks are about as good as any other type of dubstep track. That's why me and frush were talking about quality. Not no 'tearout', just good music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=puwitrLTUyo (mensah, sukh knight & squarewave - quad bikes is the track playing up till 0:53)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cWgvo6TtZQ

and to show the variety of dubstep you've got

Blawan - Fram http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SmYdE_XbJo

TRG - Broken Heart (Martyn's DCM remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2ZjWiKQqV4

Shackleton - Bottles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3EEa...eature=related

mala - jah power dub http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZw__jBNHbY

objekt - cactus http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XU6DnRMrZo

silkie - purple love http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lY2dJj352HE

peverelist - roll with the punches http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1PikWcovpo

loefah - midnight http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_OUxAPgV_AA

coki - intergalactic dub http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZT5VMW9SR8

james blake - tell her safe http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl4JIpluKeg

pangaea - won't hurt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sh3pu-txHmE

vivek - the big bang http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltDsjKFmdUA

lost & hatcha - al barsha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48ESQKV0ng4

massive music - find my way (kode9 remix) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tdktw5Srx4

burial - broken home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nv7N9wf42cs

zomby - gloop http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7Qip0p5udE

skream - metal mouth http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHeuxwGrKZQ

pinch - punisher http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFYVu-wxWP4

tunnidge - ghost dance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8xtXL2Jmrc

distance - mean streak http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X5ehiASuRc

goth trad - sun beam http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOEV8mIQjgQ

man i could go on and on but what i'm getting at is that all these songs sound completely different from one another...but they all have a thread that links them. They're good pieces of music

That's all that i'll say about it.

wow. Simple? Who gives a FUKKK. Its MUSIC. period.
give a little props for someone turning BEETHOVEN into that mix..
Get a clue yaga, please.

dubstep = dub + 2 step in general. boudaries have been stretchded... but brostep never has any dub, and might have a wee bit of 2 step/half step. the bass is mainly midranged ****, and not low.

Best is to navigate the Rinse shows (imo).

http://rinse.fm/category/podcast/

Also if you have a data connection via WiFi or whatever on your phone & there's a good show on you could just lock in live.

Bass Clef album's out, Brackles album, too (don't know how to say it, but Brackles' **** is a little strange? It's all upbeat pop-type **** which is cool & fine, but it's not exactly what i was expecting after playing a gang of his twelves for years and ****). Those dudes Black Orange Juice have a dope EP out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pL29NN8UB80). Funky tip. The A is like 0:35 to 1:30 on this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsL8n17z94M "Back of My Car." Dun Dun is like my favorite twelve this year, though. When that Bass starts hitting in like the first minute or whatever it's curtains, lol. Love that ****.
