I can't remember specific instances, but I always get really serious and vocally just shut my girl down when we argue; I don't necessarily get louder, rather I just have an obvious switch in tones that can't be interrupted. With that being said, I really can't remember a time where I said something hurtful to my girl (never called her a *****, degraded her etc).

the worst thing i did was not actually cussing a girl out, but just turning around, leaving her nagging *** in the middle of nowhere.
i was studying abroad at the time and she had just come to visit me. i picket her up at the airport and apparently, i wasn't happy enough to see her or something like that. she kept complaining and picking stupid fights for the next two days. at some point i got fed up and told her that i had enough of this ****. than i left and she was stranded without a phone in a foreign country, not knowing where to go and whether or not she would have place to sleep. we made up later and she didn't say a thing about it, but i could see in her eyes how much that hurt her, because for the rest of her stay, everytime she looked at me, she had that questioning insecure look on her face.
