It's a great company that makes really high end VST and AU plug ins.

They can be expensive as phluck but you know... ways around this

But I've got a pretty specific set of stuff i go to for snare, kick, hi hat, overheads, strings, synths, bass etc. Can really help with the knock.

If you manage to get your hands on the waves platinum bundle I can show you what I use on what tracks etc.

Maschine lets your use VST's and stuff right? Is the software in the Maschine itself or is there a computer component to the sequencer too?

yea you can use VST's on the maschine I got a couple that native instruments gave me for free

Well a good basic set up is I use is.

Kick- SSL Channel Strip, CLA76 compressor, RBASS

Snare- SSL Channel Strip, CLA76 compressor, sometimes RBASS if you need more bottom on the snare.

Toms- SSL Channel Strip, 5 band EQ

Hi Hat- SSL Channel Strip, JJP Drums

Crashes, Rides Etc- SSL Channel Strip, JJP Drums

Synths- SSL Channel Strip, CLA 76 compressor, CLA Effects (I use lo fi string setting a lot to give the synths a samples vibe, Amp Designer(this is built into Logic Pro but Waves has different guitar amp plug ins too)

Strings- SSL Channel Strip, JJP Strings, RVerb

Bassline- SSL Channel Strip, 5 Band EQ, CLA76, RBASS, potentially L2 limiter

808 tones- see above, I often use a pitch correction tool in Logic to tune 808s correctly

Samples- SSL Channel Strip, CLA 76 compressor, CLA Effects, JJP Strings, Amp Designer


Stereo Bus- Aphex Vintage Exciter, PuigChild670, L2 limiter

The dumbest thing happened today, I was sat here talking to my Assistant and that came into my head...I actually racked my brains out trying to figure out where I heard it from..then it hit me!
